Parking spaces on Columbus State's main campus are at a premium during school hours. With spaces seemingly never available, where are the best places to park?

Columbus State Police Officer Kelly Brown said, "At 7 a.m. the main student lot [11-S] is rather empty but by 7:20 a.m. the lot is jammed full," Brown said. "The parking rush usually continues til about 9 a.m. then resumes around lunchtime."

According to Brown, the 12-S lot and the parking garage would be the second best options.  "And if a student doesn't mind walking the best place would be the 28-S lot on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Nelson Street," said Brown.

The 28-S lot is the furthest lot from campus but is only a ten minute walk to Nestor Hall.  The following is a link that will take you to a map of Columbus State: http://cscc.edu/Tour/maps.htm.

The 12-S lot and the garage usually have spots available unless it is the first or second week of the quarter.  Then other options such as the 4-S, 5-S, and 28-S should have spaces available.

"There aren't any hidden or secret parking locations," Brown said.  "The best advice I can give would be to show up early and drive safely."

Columbus States' website offers the following tips for commuters: read all signs before you park, allow enough time to get to your class or meeting, and be prepared to park in the outer lots around campus if you early mornign or early evening classes.
